Aloha and welcome to ShellsHawaii.com! My name is Janjira, and I’m so grateful you stopped by. I take great pride in creating each piece of jewelry with care, staying true to the Hawaiian tradition. I source all my shells directly from the local people of Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i — relationships built on trust and mutual support. I create authentic Hawaiian shell jewelry including Ni‘ihau shell earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and loose shell supplies.

ShellsHawaii began in 2007 with a deep connection to Kaua‘i beaches and Ni‘ihau shell traditions. After years of learning and refining my craft, I officially registered as a Hawai‘i business in 2010. My husband ran the business statewide in Hawai‘i for over 42 years, always hiring local people and building family-like relationships with the community. He still owns a business in Hanalei, Kaua‘i, keeping our ties to the islands strong.

In 2024, we relocated from Kauaʻi to Seattle to be closer to my husband’s family during an important stage of life. With that move, I had to leave my Hawaiʻi business license behind and register a new one in Washington. Even so, my roots remain firmly Hawaiian — about 95% of my customers are still from Hawaiʻi, with many more from Japan and the mainland.

Even though I had to move away from Kaua‘i, I am deeply grateful that customers from Hawai‘i still remain my main customers. From Seattle, I continue to create Hawaiian shell jewelry with aloha, honoring the traditions and relationships that began in Hawai‘i.
