This handcrafted pendant necklace is a vibrant celebration of Niʻihau’s treasured Kahelelani shells. Designed in the three-strand poepoe style, it features a beautiful blend of natural colors:

ʻĀkala Pua (pink flower tones) — soft, romantic pinks that bring warmth and charm.

ʻŌmaʻomaʻo (green) — rare green shells that add depth and contrast.

Keʻokeʻo (white) — the most common Kahelelani color found on Niʻihau’s beaches. Although its Hawaiian name means “white,” the shells often show soft tans, creams, or light beige tones rather than a pure white. To me, Keʻokeʻo looks more like a natural, earthy shade — a gentle reminder that Hawaiian names for shells describe them in a cultural way that may not always match what our eyes expect.
The shell section measures 1 1/5" in length and about 1/4" thick, compact yet full of life and movement. Every shell, about size 12, has been carefully hand-poked, matched, and strung to create a harmonious design that flows together in the poepoe twist.
The necklace is finished with a 14K gold-filled chain, giving it a graceful and timeless look. With an overall length of 18 1/4", it lays elegantly against the neckline — perfect for both everyday wear and special occasions. Like all of my Niʻihau creations (ニイハウシェル ジュエリー), this piece carries the spirit of aloha in every detail.
