This handcrafted set features a 40" lei and matching 3" earrings, both created in the elegant Single Pikake style — a traditional Hawaiian tying method that groups shells closely together in soft clusters. Known for its graceful flow and timeless look, Single Pikake is one of the most beloved Niʻihau shell lei styles. (In my upcoming blogs, I’ll be sharing more about what Single Pikake means and how it’s different from other styles.)
The shells display a rare and natural range of colors: Momi Keʻokeʻo (white) for brightness, Momi Lenalena (golden yellow) for warmth, Momi ʻŪliʻuli ʻĀhiehie (light blue/gray) for ocean tones, and very unique caramel-colored Momi shells that deepen the overall palette. Natural speckled and striped variations are also woven in, giving the lei character and authenticity.
The lei is finished with a granulated cowrie clasp, and the earrings with 14k gold-filled hooks, making this set both elegant and versatile — a beautiful expression of Hawaiian jewelry (ニイハウシェルジュエリー).
